HDPE electrofusion end cap is used to cap off the end of a HDPE pipe. With a size range from 50mm to 250mm, electrofusion end cap fittings come in SDR 11 (which also suits SDR 13.6 & SDR 17).

Electrofusion end cap fittings are made from PE100 material with a precisely molded energising coil of wire, ensuring uniform melting for a strong electrofusion joint and the minimization of welding and cooling times. SDR 11 electrofusion end caps are rated to PN16 for water and PN10 for gas.

End cap electrofusion fittings are suitable for use for HDPE pipe, and welded with an electrofusion pressure welder. Electrofusion end cap PE fittings may also be known as an electrofusion end caps or EF pipe end caps.

*What’s HDPE Pipe electrofusion welding?

A: Electrofusion welding is the name given to resistive implant welding of HDPE pipes. It is one of two main techniques used for the joining of polyethylene gas and water pipes.

The electrofusion welding process involves the use of a moulded socket fitting containing an electrical resistive heating coil. The prepared pipe ends are inserted into the sockets and clamped. An electric current is then passed through the coil for a pre-set time. Heating of the surrounding polymer and heat transfer to the pipe wall takes place. Cold zones at the ends of the fitting contain the melt in the central section, allowing a high melt pressure to develop and the formation of a homogeneous joint.

* Can electrofusion fittings made by PE100 material weld to the pipe in PE80?

A: Yes, this will be ok. To guarantee the best welding result, we recommend to use PE80 fittings to weld to the PE80 pipe.

* Can SUNPLAST HDPE electrofusion fittings weld to the HDPE pipe from the other manufacturer?

A: Yes, as long as as the HDPE pipe is standard size as per ISO4427, and be made of virgin HDPE material.

* How to stock the electrofusion fittings? Can they be stocked outdoor?

A: Fittings are packed in a protective plastic covering and should remain packed until ready for use. This plastic covering can be used to handle the fitting during installation in order to prevent contamination.

Fittings are to be stored in a warehouse in which the temperature should not exceed 50℃

Never store fittings in direct sunlight. SUNPLAST Black EF fittings contain a carbon black additive in order to protect from UV effects, however, unsuitable storage can adversely affect the fitting performance.
