HDPE Female Thread Adaptor has a female screw thread at one ends that are used to join with thread connections, such as valves, any other thread fittings., etc. The other ends are made of HDPE material, which allow to connect to the HDPE main pipeline in a “heat-fusion” methods.

HDPE female adaptor consists two parts: HDPE body & inserts made by brass or stainless steel.

* What’s the difference between Butt fusion type HDPE female adaptor & Socket fusion type female adaptor?

A: There are two main difference:

1). The butt fusion type female adaptor fittings connect to HDPE main pipeline in a butt fusion way, the diameter (outer diameter) shall be exact same as HDPE pipe; Socket fusion type female adaptor can connect to main pipeline by socket fusion, which means its outer diameter shall be same or 1-2mm smaller to pipeline’s inner diameter

2). The butt fusion type adaptor is long-spigot, which is suitable for HDPE electrofusion coupler, while socket fusion is short-spigot.

* What material of metal insert of HDPE female thread adaptor?

A: The metal insert is normal made of brass with nickel-plated.

* How can we connect HDPE pipes to PVC pipes?

A: Since HDPE pipe & PVC pipe are made of different material grade, they are unable to connect together by “heat-fusion”.

The possible way to connect them together is by flanged connection. To use HDPE flange adaptor & HDPE backup flanges to make it possible to connect to PVC flanges.

* Injection molded HDPE fittings & fabricated HDPE fittings, which one is better?

A: Regularly, there are two manufacturing methods for HDPE pipe fittings: injection molded & fabricated.

Molded HDPE fittings are injection molded by injection machine in one time, and they are most reliable in quality; Poly fittings that are welded by HDPE pipe, called fabricated fittings, the quality relies on welding technology.

Comparing to fabricated fittings, molded poly fittings are a better & reliable choice

* Is SUNPLAST HDPE fittings UV resistant?

A: Yes, HDPE fittings made in black color are UV resistant and UV stable and will not structurally degrade from UV light. After a lengthy period of direct UV light contact, the external surface of the fittings change visually to a slightly waxy look, but this does not affect the performance and is removed by a rotary pipe scraper prior to electrofusion welding.
